Stands for Chain Reaction Edition of OScommerce. Conceptualized back in the late 90's by Salvatore Iozzia, it has become one of the major shopping cart players in the ecommerce arena. CRE took some 100+ contributions as well as some of it's own source code and enhanced OScommerce. Version 6.2+ is developed to be compatible with PHP5 and MySQL 5, according to their development team. CRE is limited to the capacity of 20,000 items.
